ARMS Rally Fall Newsletter

Happy Halloween, rally fans!

Its scary how time flies but another year of rally in the Maritimes is drawing to a close! Don’t fear, though! There’s always lots of rally treats in every season for everyone!

The Bluenose Autosport Club’s Performance Rally series finished up its 2013 run on the all new Trout Lake roads in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia! These new roads provided plenty of all new challenges for the 6 teams entered, including the Canadian return of brothers Robert and Nathan Sockalexis from Maine! Robert and Nathan have previously visited our region for RallyCross events but stepped up their game this year with their Rally America prepared “2.2RS” Open Class Impreza! They handily took home second place honours after 6 stages chasing down overall winners Jonathan Conrad and Clarke Paynter in the 2002 Impreza WRX, who also claim the overall season championship! Full results for all performance rally events can be found on the Rally East website athttp://www.rallyeast.ca/!

Performance Rallying will be back next year, including the marquee Ledwidge Lookoff rally returning bigger and better than ever on August 23rd and 24th! Mark your calendars now, you won’t want to miss it!

Navigational Rallying has had another tough year with the long postponement of the ASCC regional rally in January due to weather and the cancelation of the October BAC T.O. Bridgewater Rally. After nearly a two year delay, the ASCC Regional Kennetcook Conundrum rally will finally take place on November 9th starting and ending in Enfield! This will be the second and final event of the 2013 Regional Navigational Rally series! Whether you’re an experienced crew with all the toys or a novice wanting to try it out this event is a must for anyone wanting to try out TSD Rallying! For details and Supplemental Regulations see:http://goo.gl/KTwYyM

Immediately after the Kennetcook rally on November 9th the 2013-2013 BAC RallyCross series starts off its 10 event season on November 10th at AMP! RallyCross is the cheapest and easiest way to get a taste for real sideways rally action out there whether you have a $200 beater or a $40k Fire Breathing STI! Come on out and give it a try! The full BAC RallyCross calendar can be found on the BAC Website at http://www.bluenoseautosport.ca/ and on the Rally East site at http://www.rallyeast.ca/. Stay tuned after the ARMS AGM for scheduled rallycross events from the Moncton Motor Sport club and Fredericton Motorsport Club too!

Before the start of the RallyCross season we will be conducting a work party at Atlantic Motorsport Park this Sunday, November 3rd at 10am (remember the time change!) to clean up the Back 40 to make it ready for us to play on! More hands mean less work and we should be done in no time! Bring boots and gloves and appropriate weather gear!

With the end of the year approaching its also time for the Atlantic Region Motorsport Annual General Meeting which takes place November 15-17th at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax, NS. At the AGM we will discuss the past year and plan for the year ahead in all forms of ARMS sanctioned motorsport in the Maritimes. The AGM Rally Workshop will take place at the Westin on Saturday, November 16th at 1pm. All are welcome to come and talk rally and to plan for the future! For details on the AGM seehttp://goo.gl/xWFCpy

Also as a treat for rally fans we will be holding a screening of the new rally documentary “Easier Said than Done” by Matt Johnson at 1pm Saturday, November 2nd at the Riverside Pub in Bedford, NS. We will even be raffling off a copy of the movie on DVD as a door prize! All are welcome so drop by for a great flick with some great rally people!
