The BAC RallyCross Season is wrapping up with a bang!

Two more events to go in the Bluenose Autosport Club 2015-2016 RallyCross Challenge! This Sunday will be the final visit to Scotia Speed World. With warm weather and interesting forecast for Saturday be sure to check the BAC Website and the Event Facebook Page for details on Saturday!

But wait, you say, isn’t there one more event at Scotia Speed World on March 20th? The final event of the BAC Season has been changed to a special event at the Conrad Brothers quarry in Dartmouth, NS. Conrad Brothers is a great supporter of Rally and has hosted the Spectator stages of the Ledwidge Lookoff Rally several times. This will be an amazing event and shouldn’t be missed! Three RallyCross stages will be held on a stage and transit format, in other words like a full stage rally event! Co-drivers are also required! Since many will be new to Co-Driving there will also be a co-drivers intro school on Saturday night! For full details see the event’s Facebook page! Don’t miss this one!

In other news I had some RallyEast pens done up as giveaways, track me down at an event to write in rally style or get your free (+$1 shipping) RE pen in the mail in the Store while you pick up some decals!

BAC RallyCross #6, (Feb 21st) CANCELLED

Please note that tomorrow’s RallyCross event at Scotia Speed World has been CANCELLED. This week has been too warm and wet and we know from the past if we run the event when the lot is too soft we’ll ruin the surface for the rest of the season. Stay tuned for details about the next scheduled RallyCross event on March 6th!

RallyCross continues to surge! Mal Swann Rallye is off again!

While not record breaking (I don’t think we could handle 75!), a solid 39 competitors appeared for Round 5 of the 2015-2016 Bluenose Autosport Club RallyCross challenge. Conditions were highly variable at Scotia Speed World starting off with frozen ice, snow and gravel but warming/softening over the day to hard frozen gravel to squirmy gravel to wet rocks and mud. That’s the thing about Rally! You never know what the corner is going to be until you get there!

Unofficial results are available on the ARMS Forum by clicking here!

Harold’s always excellent photos are available by clicking here.

Next event is February 21st, stay tuned for location details!

In the mean time Mal Swann Rallye are headed to their second Quebec Rally of the season this weekend for Rallye Ville La Tuque! This event will be the first time that WRC Spec Studded Tires will be available to competitors and we can’t wait to hear what Mal has to say about driving on the metal hedgehogs! Good luck, Mal!

February starts off with lots of rally excitement!

The shortest month of the year still has plenty of room for rally, and its starting off with a bang!

Local competitors Mal Swann and Tim Dine are presently in Maniwaki, Quebec for Rallye Perce-Neige Maniwaki where they’ll be contesting the snow and ice stages in both the National and the East Coast Rally Championship series! Also of local connection keep an eye out for local Halfax ex-pat and Rally Photographer Extraordinaire Peter MacDonald of CDNRally.com as he competes in his first CRC event with experienced Co-driver Ferdinand Trauttsmansdorff.

Check out all the results as they’re updated on Saturday on RallyScoring.com and for updates on the Rallye Perce Neige Facebook group! They’ve already started posting some great photos from recce and tech. I’ll try to keep the Rally East Facebook group updated with everything I find out as well!

For those who can’t make it to the snowy stages of Quebec there’s rally action right here at home with Round 5 of the Bluenose Autosport Club RallyCross Championsip! After our record decimating entry field at the last event we return to Scotia Speed World for another round of sideways action. Conditions are sure to be very different this time with warm weather and rain all week ensuring a softer surface.

Ride along with Steve Quigley in his fully prepped Open 4WD Class RallyCar at the last event:

Also check out this amazing promo for the 2016 Canadian Rally Championship. Its full of the Rally Feels and does a great job of showing what we all love about this sport!

BAC RallyCross Series Continues to Explode!

The 2015-2016 Bluenose Autosport Club RallyCross series continues its exceptional growth patterns with yet another record setting event! Sunday saw 62 (SIXTY TWO!) drivers take to the beautifully snowy/frozen surface of Scotia Speed World to race against traction and the clock. Attendance at the event was boosted by the Low Motion Winter Challenge, a cross-promotional championship by the local Low Motion car club.

When the flakes settled first in AWD (and Overall) was veteran Rallyist and former BAC RallyCross Champion Mel Smith, followed closely by the Prepared class winner, Jonathan Conrad in second overall. Newcomer Daniel Salmon took FWD top honors in 6th place overall while top RWD went to Scott Montgomerie in 24th place.

Full results are available by clicking here.

Unfortunately regular photographer Harold Merklinger couldn’t stay to shoot this event, but a variety of other photographers were present and many have been posting their images to the RallyEast Facebook Group.

The 6th event of the BAC RallyCross Championship takes place on February 7th. Please note the venue change from Atlantic Motorsport Park to Scotia Speed World! This event will be starting at the new earlier time as well. Check the Facebook link in the events calendar for full details.

For those in New Brunswick or who don’t mind some travelling to go sideways, the Moncton Motorsport Club will be holding a RallyCross this Sunday, January 31st. See the details in the Facebook link in the events calendar for details.

Local rally team on the move!

Having refreshed and upgraded after their performance at the 2015 Rallye de Charlevoix in Quebec, local competitors Mal Swann and Tim Dine are headed back to La Belle Province in February to compete in not one, but two events! First up is the 2016 Rallye Perce Neige, the first event in the national Canadian Rally Championship, following very shortly afterwards by La Tuque, the first rally of the Championnat de Rallye du Québec. We wish them luck on the snowy Quebec stages!

BAC RallyCross brings record entry field!

Sunday held the third round of the 2015-2016 Bluenose Autosport Club‘s winter RallyCross Challenge and the already busy season got busier! The first two events saw then-record entries with 37 drivers each but clearly the siren call of going sideways in the dirt is working as we saw 46 entries for Round 3 at Atlantic Motorsport Park!

Conditions were all snow and mud as the cars worked their way into the surface, traction was at a premium and all drivers were put to the test but at the end of the day there were few retirements and lots of big smiles with some new (and old!) faces in the top 10! The former rallycrossing father and son team of Devon and Mel Smith returned and handily took the first two spots in their 2002 Subaru Impreza wagon.

Full results can be found by clicking here and the always excellent photos by Harold Merklinger can be found by clicking here.

Round 4 returns to Scotia Speed World on January 24th! See you there! (Note: Because of the high number of entries we will be starting an hour earlier, don’t be late!)
