November 23rd BAC RallyCross #1 CANCELLED

A message from the organizers:

Wayne Pitts and I (ed. Cindy Spencer) were organizing the first RallyCross event of the year, and with the help/input of some BAC members we have come to a decision regarding the BAC Rally Cross event for November 23rd.

It was not an easy decision to make as we all want to be out on the lot ASAP, however, if we want to preserve the fun all season we are going to have to cancel Rally Cross for November 23rd.

The big lot and the small lot both still have cars in them, and they will not be gone before Sunday. The third lot on the other side of the track near the paddock/pit area that has been investigated for use now has a small lake in it, and the chances of it being dried up, or frozen by Sunday are slim. So to avoid rutting it up and freezing into ruts, ruining future events, we’re cancelling.

Pray to the rally gods for cold weather to freeze up the ground so we can run December 7th at SSW. If the big lot and small lot are still full of cars on December 7th, we will run on the (even) smaller third lot.

BAC November 23rd RallyCross Update!

So we’re keeping an eye on the situation for next Sunday. Right now the big lot is 100% occupied by vehicles from the next door Auction dealer and its possible the small lot may be similarly occupied as well. Obviously if this is the case we’re stuck and obviously can’t have the event.

The other issue is weather. After last year we learned our lesson about running events at Scotia if its been too wet. Even if the lot is free we’ll be evaluating through next week to determine whether or not the lot will be suitable to run without damage. Stay tuned here, on the ARMS Forum or on the RallyEast Facebook group for updates!

2014/2015 BAC RallyCross Challenge!

Interested in getting a taste of rally driving?

Perhaps you’re an AutoSlalom junkie looking for a cone-dodging fix during the long winter months? Or maybe just interested in some hands on driving experience in slippery, less than ideal conditions, to better prepare you for our soon to be slippery winter streets? Then participating in a BAC RallyCross event would be just right for you!

RallyCross is an off-road AutoSlalom event. A number of times between November and March we will haul out the cones and timing equipment at the Scotia Speed World spectator parking lot and or the AMP (back 40 as it known locally) parking lot to rip it up against the clock in the mud, snow, gravel and what ever mother nature throws at us. Whether you have a Stunning STI or a Rusted-out Rabbit, come out to an event and give it a try!

We are pleased to announce that the BAC RallyCross Challenge will be held again this year. We are hoping to continue on the fun and success of the last few years.

Want to buy a rally car?

If you want to get going in Performance Rally its generally easier to buy rather than build. Building has the advantages of making the car that you want, but the time, manufacturing skill and budget required are far more than buying an already sorted example. Luckily there’s cars available to suit every budget! Rallying is still growing in our region so most cars are located elsewhere in the Country, but the rally family is strong and we have friends everywhere! We can get any car checked out impartially and there’s a wealth of information and help available for those who need to move a car from one end of the country to the other! Just ask!

Probably the most ridiculous deal in a Logbooked rally car in Canada right now is this 1990 Saab 900, located in Ontario! It needs a few more low dollar parts but at $2600 with lots of spares you absolutely will NOT go rallying cheaper! That price also includes a HANS device which is mandatory for competing in Stage Rally, those can’t be had for less than $500 used!

Moving further west is this very nicely prepared 2006 Subaru WRX in Fort MacMurry, Alberta! This one has all the go-fast bits needed to run at the head of the pack in our region! Everything you need to tear up the stages!

Click here for the for sale post.

Back down to something more entry-level friendly is this Four-Star Motorsports prepared Mazda 323 in Ontario for $4750! This car is well sorted and you would have a ton of fun in 2WD Rallying! No pictures available for linking but the poster says they can be provided.

Click here for the for sale post.

And back again at the higher end of prep is Ryan Huber’s 2000 Impreza ‘RSTI’ Coupe for $23k. This is a multiple championship winning car with the best of everything and can easily take a capable driver far both regionally and even nationally!

Click here for the for sale post.

These are just some examples of the cars available for sale right now. Please contact us if you’re interested in buying, building or getting started in rally in any form! Its more fun in the dirt!

The Ledwidge Lookoff Rally is this weekend!!

Want to get a taste of real rally cars right in your back yard? The Ledwidge Lookoff Rally is back for 2014! The Ledwidge Lookoff Rally is a fully sanctioned performance motorsport event held August 23rd and 24th, starting in Dartmouth! Teams and their cars will compete on a variety of surfaces throughout the two days testing their skill and their vehicles!

Jonathan
On August 23rd the action for the public begins at Dartmouth Crossing from 3-5 pm at the corner of Countryview Drive and McClure Close. All of the cars will be on display and you can meet the drivers and co-drivers. After that the rally kicks off a short 10 minute drive away in the Conrad Brothers Quarry at 6pm where the teams will complete their first three competitive stages. Spectators can view the entire stage for free from a convenient elevated position with great views of all the action! Following the full rally cars will be an exhibition event of Amateur RallyCross competitors who have been invited to try out the stages.

Sunday the event moves to the Noel Shore where all of the rally competitors will complete another 100 full kilomteres of highly technical, fast competitive stages vying for the fastest time over the entire event! This is the biggest rally to be held in the Maritimes in over 20 years!

More information is available on the event website at http://www.lookoffrally.com including directions, spectator information and photos/videos from previous years.

Want to be more involved? Rally events require a lot of preparation and help and we can use all interested volunteers! Workers are needed for Saturday in Dartmouth from 5 to 8pm and Sunday from 8am to 5pm in the Noel shore. All workers will receive an event T-Shirt and those helping out on Sunday will be provided a free catered lunch by Quiznos Subs. No experience at all is necessary and you will be provided all the information and direction you require. You’ll have the best seat in the house and this is the only way to spectate for the action on Sunday! For more details see the ‘Workers’ section of the Rally Website at http://www.lookoffrally.com

The Ledwidge Lookoff Rally is proudly sponsored by these generous contributors. We thank them for their support!
