Fall Colours, Rally Action!

The end of summer may mean the end of the season for our pavement-bound friends but we never stop rallying! Like the US Postal Service says, neither rain nor snow nor…

The final event of the 2016 Bluenose Autosport Club’s Performance Rally Championship is this Sunday with the Trout Lake RallySprint in Middleton, Nova Scotia. This is a great event with a wonderful piece of road full of great surface, elevation changes and tricky corners. Its always a great way to end off the season. As always we need lots of Volunteers to help make these events great so if you want to come out and get the best seat in the house contact the organizers!

With nearly no downtime following the end of the BAC Season two teams are probably not even going to unpack their tow vehicles before heading off to the Rallye de Charlevoix in Clermont, Quebec, taking place on October 21-22nd. Mal Swann and Martin Cadieux will once again challenge these storied stages while James Whitman and Daphne Sleigh have a score to settle with the event after retiring early in 2015 with a catastrophic mechanical failure in their Volkswagen Golf. Bonne Chance!

Locally, things are getting geared up for the start of the 2016-2017 Bluenose Autosport Club’s RallyCross challenge! A full calendar of events has been scheduled from November through March. Stay tuned for locations and get your winter beaters, rally cars and everything in between ready for sideways!

Nova Scotia attacks the Baie!

This weekend marked the Rallye Baie des Chaleurs, the second round of the Canadian National Rally Championship which took place in New Richmond, Quebec. On hand were two teams from Nova Scotia to try out their skill and their vehicles on some of the most challenging and exciting roads the province of Quebec has to offer!

Once again Mal Swann and Martin Cadieux strapped into their rotary-powered 79 RX7 for the ride, but their day was unfortunately cut short by unrepairable steering issues after two of the ten stages.

Jonathan Conrad and Tim Dine made their first appearance at the Baie in Jonathan’s 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX and finished the regional portion of the rally, securing a 12th position overall in the East Canada Rally Championship out of 26 cars! Great job, guys!

2016 marks the 39th running of the historic Rallye Baie des Chaleurs which featured competitors from coast to coast and even Central America! For the first time RallyeBDC is featured as part of the international FIA NACAM Rally Championship as the 3rd event in their season. The NACAM Championship consists of events in Central, South and North America with this being their first foray to Canadian stages.

A selection of pictures from the event can be found on Gordon’s page here while full, detailed results can be found on RallyScoring.com. Stay tuned for more coverage on other sites including photos and articles on CDNRally.com and Youtube/TV Coverage by Bowes Media!
